I have three external DVD burners. Two Plextors and a HP. All performa as advertised - no problems. The Plex PX-716UF is probably the fastest. The newest is the HP with Lightscribe. That is a special purpose burner in my arsenal, but has performed nicely.

As for imaging and cloning, I use TrueImage by Acronis - I find it superior to Symantec's Ghost.

I use Symantic Ghost which does a very satisfactory job. It comes packaged with NAV in Systemworks Premiere, which I got delivered for $45.

I have this Lite-On and this I/O Magic (actually a BenQ drive). No problems with them so far, and very nice prices. One thing though, the Lite-On doesn't have a power button, which is a bit annoying.
