External CD-R Suggestions for Mac/PC Environment

I need to get a External CD-R here at work for use on Mac/PC's. I'd prefer to have USB 2.0 & IEEE 1394 connectivity available on one drive - but i'll accept a simple USB 2.0 only drive (can't use a firewire only CD-R). I need at least 16x write - and i'd like to keep it under $225.00. This is the one i'm looking at..

Lacie 32X10X40X CDRW USB & FIREWIRE EXTERNAL

I'd like to stick with a Plextor drive but they don't make anything decent over 8x write. The drive will be used on Macs with OS9 and PC's from 98 to XP. Suggestions would be appreciated ~!

Thanks guys (and gals),

- RJ 🙂

What's wrong with the drive you linked to? Lacie rebadges other manufacturer's drives, they don't make them. They're one of the older names in Mac add-on drives, too.

I've heard nothing but great things about the 24x Yamaha drives. The LaCie drives are also great as well. You can't go wrong with either one.

Good luck!
