Question External Caps Lock Light

BadThad

Lifer
Does anyone know if someone makes an external caps lock light? I'd like one I can attach to my monitor so I don't have to keep looking down at the KB as I very frequently have to switch between the two.

Thanks but I'm looking for a hardware solution. I work in several virtual windows that would hide the PC desktop screen. Ideally I'm looking for something that would attach to a monitor.

Well... open keyboard, remove LED, solder wire, reattach LED to wire. Duct tape to monitor... or just duct tape whole keyboard to monitor. 😉

If you want to get really ambitious, could open monitor, drill 1/4" hole on side or corner of monitor frame if wide enough, put LED there, in an LED holder If You Prefer to. If the original LED is only 3mm diameter, or surface mount, might need to substitute a typical 5mm encapsulated LED as more holders are made for 5mm.

Apparently that's what it would take to fulfil my need. LOL

Your remote session would probably not be able to change the light even if you have a hardware one.
I don't think that's correct, the caps light on the keyboard is a function of the local hardware. For any of the software based (accessibility) solutions the Microsoft or Citrix remote sessions I'm running, you may be correct.

say you have capslock on then rdp and the target has capslock off, your keyboard light is not going to turn off and on as you switch focus.

A software solution is the way to go. I often use traystatus and if the VMs run windows OS then one can use traystatus in the VMs too or any other similar software for other OSs.

Thanks but I have no admin rights to install any type of software. 🙁
