Too many FAR's for me. :(

I don't get it. :(
Did you mean too many MIRs? There are 2, which is pretty normal. Think about the deals that have 5 or more!

I was fortunate enough to pickup one of these for $29.99. Surprisingly quiet.

Does anyone know how to open this unit to change the drive? I asked WD customer support and they said this would void the warranty, so they won't give me any information. I tried prying the band around the unit off, but there are some clips that I could break off , and don't want to.

Thanks,
Tim

ok to take apart the hard drive do this:
look at the back of the hard drive (the part where the usb cords plug in) then pull the left and rigth side panel toward you. they should slide half and inch and then come off.

the front panel is a little tricky. the front panel looks almost like abracket from the side (like this [ ) so what you do is take a screwdriver and wedge it under the end of side (not the top or the bottom) wedge it under and pop it up, then do the same on the other side. then you should be able to pull the panel off.

then just take a screwdriver to where you see the connections on the case and youre done. Inside the case is just the standard conections. let me know if you need help.

Yep, mine's got a WD800BB, standard 7200rpm, 2MB 80GB drive. Nothing special. Surprisingly quiet for a WD, though.
