Extension cable for monitor: does it degrade the signal?

I have 2 computers sharing the same monitor. One of them seems less brilliant than the other. It is on an extension cable for the monitor and I'm thinking that is why it is not quite as bright.

Thoughts?

Usually vga extension cables dumb down the quality. Not going to get technical with it though.

It did for me when I used an extension cable a few years ago. I doubt I was using a very high quality cable, however. My Belkin KVM and Belkin cables don't noticeably decay the signal though.

Yes, when you lenthen the cable, there will almost always be a quality decrease. With some extension cables there will be less, and some more.
