I have an external modem that can only connect at 1200 bps
(not a typo) if I hook it up to my laptop though
it configures it as a standard modem and it works beautifully.
I have uninstalled it a hundred times, and tried every driver i could think of but it still either doesn't connect or only connects at 1200bps.
my laptop lets me chose "standard modem" as a type of modem when I install it but my desktop doesn't
here are my specs:
laptop-Dell inspiron 5000e (sweet p3-750/20GB/128MB/15in LCD @ 1600x1200)
desktop
Asus p2b
celeron 300a (not OC'd -I know I know)
128mb crucial pc100
16mb blaster banshee
mx300
dlink 530tx+ NIC
also the modem works fine under linux
thanks
