ATI Rage=Radeon Fury=Furies(Latin)

The Rage 128 Pro graphics accelerator was the final revision of the Rage architecture and last use of the Rage brand. While the next iteration was initially codenamed Rage 6, ATI decided to rename it Radeon.

"Now there is an interesting question , R9 390 / 390X is R9 290 / 290X vest card , that this flagship card how to call it? Our informant to us today revealed the answer : Radeon Fury."

"The purpose of this naming is very simple, is to launch a new brand , positioning the top , as if , like NVIDIA 's GeForce GTX TITAN , also can release a signal to the latter competition ."

I think I still have an old ATI Rage Fury Maxx in the junk box somewhere...

I like the name, brings back nostalgia! 😀
Hopefully it won't be this kind of nostalgia that Bulldozer FX brought us.

Warning issued for thread crapping.

Should have went with Olympus for the extra rub-it-in-your-face factor 😛

They couldn't use Zeus as that's taken; they have copy rights for Fury.....technically in Greek mythos; everything was afraid of the Furies - Titans; Gods; etc...they were the most powerful beings...😉

Now if AMD's Marketing could get Kung Fury to do the advertising for the card, they may sell an imperial crap-ton of these. Because The card was struck by lightning and bitten by a cobra.

Fury is not a good name to market. Rage wasn't really either. Needs to be more neutral because anger is not considered a good thing.

Perhaps they should have called it the Radeon Buttercup? I sure it would have sold far better with that name. /s

Personally I love the name Fury. I liked the old Rage branding, and I owned a few. Fury is a great name.

Just like I was gung-ho to buy a Radeon HD 9x00 card solely on the name, the same feeling sort of applies for a "Fury" or even "Rage."

Of course, if the price is $1,000 they can suck an egg haha.

Fury is a great name for a halo product line. Nostalgia kicks in and also strong sounding. I think AMD is going to up-end Titan X in performance where 4gb vram isn't a bottle neck.
