nope. had a feeling it was some kind of reinactment but wasn't sure they actually used explosives (seems kind of extreme). but that does seem pretty sweet.

Been to a few myself but I have never seen them do anything like that before, very cool!

Yea this airshow was unbelievable. A great mix of planes, massive explosions, and only $12 to get in. I'm uploading a gallery right now of the whole event. Should be done in about 15 minutes and i'll post the link.

The aircraft don't actually drop them, it's just pyrotechnics. Think 'fireworks shows'.

They have explosives placed on the ground that they detonate by remote control (FROM the ground) when the aircraft flies over them to give the effect.

I will second the OP - I've been to airshows that do that. It's weird, even hundreds of feet away, you feel a blast of heat and it really sucks the breath out of you. It's like a wall of hot air just smacks into you - it's a very tangible feeling - the air really FEELS like a solid wall hitting you.

Hmmm...best way to describe it would be if you stood on the edge of a pool and just belly-flopped in. It feels like that, only hot.

Hey, as long as they had my F4U, it's good...That is THE sweetest plane...Mustang & Mitchell are both good...Zeros are pretty sweet, too...

I can look at them, but they are a little stretchy with the frame on there.
