Man, talking about conflicting stories. CNN says 30, AP says 49. Reuters says 50. al-Jazeera says 62.
 
Actually 49 was reported like 4-5 hours ago from official sources on the scene. Two hours ago it went up to 62. Last update at 11:34 PM PST is 69 CONFIRMED DEAD. 200 wounded, many severly.

well it's Israeli Radio (official state news agency) and various websites quoting it (unfortunately not in english). If you continue to look at CNN for this, you will have to wait 2-3 hours before you see the same reports. btw, Sinai is a popular vacation area for Israelis as well as europeans. There are currently 10000 israelis in Sinai, at least one is among the dead.
 
Death toll is now at 75 according to egyptian officials (surprise even cnn is catching up - it is reporting 74). 200 injured, 120 of those in serious condition. Death toll is expected to rise further as one of the two hotels has completely collaped and more bodies are expected to be found in the rubble. At least 8 of the dead are tourist visiting from other countries.

it's not "conflicting" it's just that some are more up to date than others. Man, sometimes I'm surprised at the level of some posts on these forums. Some people dont think before posting. It figures that the sources you read are the least up to date..

Actually, right now, its looking like the terrorists did a good job of not hitting Israelis. So far the only confirmed Israeli casualty was lightly wounded, and by now any Israeli who had been simply wounded would have been reported in the statistics. There are a few good reasons for tthis. One key is the the resort hit is much further South in the Sinai, making it less convenient for Israelis. It tends to get far more Egyptians and Europeans instead. I also think Israeli tourist numbers in the Sinai are still down after the last terrorist attack, and of course the Israeli Jewish population isn't that huge in the first place.

Edit: The injured Israeli apparently was an Arab Israeli citizen to boot!

correct, 88 is the latest update. CNN is only 5 behind at 83. Only 8 foreign tourists confirmed among the dead, and only one Israeli woman lightly injured.

I agree this attack will seriously hurt the tourism industry of Sinai, which is the main source of income of the Egyptians that live there. So this attack mostly hurt egyptians.

I've heard that there were Israelis injured, but all they had were scratches, so they just tended themselves after seeing the unorganized egyption hospitals.

No they are not actually. Or at least if they are they did an extremely lousy job of it. They picked a Sinai resort that overwhelminglyh serves Arabs and Europeans instead of Israelis like some of those further north.
