Wow. I did not hear about this until my coworker mentioned it when I walked in. The office was seeming pretty empty when I walked in.

According to the news story four people were injured, not just the perp.
 
Yeah CNN is saying 4 people, including the suspect were injured. Not specified if those were from the explosion or the rush out of the area.
 
I'm glad that the damage appears to have been minimal, even if it unfortunately meant that innocents were hurt.

What's notable to me: as usual, the Muslim ban (and yes, it's a Muslim ban) wouldn't have stopped the suspect. He's originally from Bangladesh.

How is it a "Muslim ban"? Muslims are still free to worship their god and have their faith. No one is stopped from immigrating to this country for being Muslim. Stop with the lies.

Of course the Muslim ban wouldn't have been effective. It was never meant to be effective, it was meant to signal to Trump's base that he didn't like Muslims.

If the policy was actually security based maybe they should have included some countries where the terrorism actually comes from. Seems they managed to miss basically all of them. Curious.

It's aimed at countries solely because they're predominantly Muslim, with little correlation to actual threats to the US. Trump also called for a "total ban" on all Muslim immigration during the campaign, making it clear that his issue is with people being Muslim, not the threat they pose to the country. The only reason he didn't actually implement a ban on all Muslim immigration is because that would be clearly unconstitutional even to die-hard islamophobes.

A Muslim ban doesn't have to literally ban all Muslims to be discriminatory; it just has to be clearly aimed at punishing people for being Muslim, irrespective of their actual threat.

We already know you're a spineless coward who's afraid of dealing with uncomfortable realities, but please -- don't pretend the ban was some carefully thought-out strategy to protect the country. If it was, it would include more countries that aren't on the list and would likely omit a few that are. It was a simplistic reaction from a xenophobic President.
