Explorer.exe keeps crashing

It can be within an hour between crashes or a few hours. But explorer will close down and restart itself back up, refreshing the screen and closing any open folder windows (and subsequently end any file transfers that are occuring).

I ran a procdump on explorer.exe and this is what spat back at me.

This is on Windows 8.1
 
You can do 2 things.
Run SFC /checknow

Also run MRT at the command line.
MRt is not that strong but at least it checks the boot sectors and critical areas.

A lot of those errors seem to be .net framework errors, which would seem to indicate you have a software issue of some sort. It could also be indicative of a graphics driver problem if you have recently upgraded your graphics driver.

Just to be on the safe side, if SFC /SCANNOW doesn't find any system file problems I'd also recommend using a manufacturer utility to test your hard drive for faults and also that you run a memtest+86 memory test session to see if you might have a bad memory module.
 
Thanks guys, I have been so busy lately that I haven't been able to check back up on this thread. I will do the sfc /scannow later tonight.

I have already ran the memtest/hard drive scans without any errors prior to posting.
 
WHen was the last time you gave your pc the RED CARPET TREATMENT?

What I mean by that is one day perhaps once a year you just sit down at the pc and do nothing but optimisations to it,defrag,system mechanic(or c cleaner *free) and wipe empty all temp folders from windows\temp and the profile temp locations.

Really cleaning up a system and its trash and getting rid of old junk you do not use anymore can and does ALWAYS speed up a pc.
 
Also, have you run a recent malware scan with a tool like Malwarebytes? And, have you recently been using any type of registry cleaning tool like CCleaner?
 
Known as a last method to cheat and get away from the crashes you could try replacing explorer.exe from a known good pc.

Also if explorer.exe is sitting on a bad area of the drive causing it to crash then would be a good idea to defrag as to move the file to another area of the drive.

If I was your next door friend and you invited me over to inspect your pc as a favor then the first thing I would have done is to use the BIOS diagnostic tools.

New BIOS have built in tools. If you do have a subset of tools like many dell computers do then you can check the MTBF SMART test.

There are some boot ISO's off the internet that offer free programs to check your pc.

If I were you I would try that route.

If your hard drive checks out then just reimage the pc.

This happens to me often also but thankfully USUALLY nothing stops,all that happens is explorer resets.... (If my browser is open IT STAYS OPEN,etc)

Dont know why it happens......

I had three Explorer.exe crashes in Windows 8 or maybe 8.1 in a row.

It was because I was attempting to connect to my router on 5Ghz. Something in the router had gotten screwed up. Once I rebooted the router, Windows was OK.
