explorer.exe keeps crashing

Hi, i purchased a Asus n53s laptop a couple of days ago and since today when i downloaded some stuff every time i open up my downloads folder or c drive in my computer the explorer.exe crashes and restarts. I cant get into these folders which is very frustrating and even more so that ive barely had the laptop 2 days and its already got problems! (Knew i should of gone with mac

). Ive tried right clicking on Cdrive and selecting properties to check the drive but the explorer.exe just restarts everytime i do too. I running windows 7.

That usually points to a program or driver that is conflicting with something. What software and hardware have you added since purchasing your laptop?

did you install any new hardware or drivers? If no, then there's probably a process that is conflicting with explorer (may be legitimate or something malicious). Chances are it's because of something you installed.

If you start system in safe mode, you can disable all unessential boot items from running msconfig, and also run virus/malware scan.

Had the same problem with this model. In my case, the cure was to uninstall "asus web storage". This program is deeply integrated with explorer.exe, so it cause some trouble. Maybe some update of this program can help to, but i didn't use it, so i just uninstalled it.
