HI,
Like the title says i have been having explorer.exe problems here is the main problem

Explorer.exe

The instruction at "0x7c911e58" referenced memory at "0x00000000", the memory could not be read.

Click "OK" to cancel the program
Click "Cancel" to debug

This error has happened several times and today it did the same error with different errors numbers, I am currently running Windows XP PRO SP2 with a clean install as of Last Monday.

Some of the symptoms are: When i booted up my PC I had to log out of my account and re-log in in order to see my desktop. I did try to restart Explorer.exe from the Task Manager but no luck there either

I think i have an idea of what my problem could be but before i do anything i wanted to ask if anybody had an idea as to what is wrong with my system.

Thanks in advance

P.S. i Hope i am posting in the right section

If you have a standard windows disc, boot to the disc. Go into the recovery console once it gives you the option to so. Select your installation (in the vast majority of cases, just push 1), then enter the administrator password (if no administrator password, just hit enter).

At the C: prompt type "chkdsk /r". Let it run through. This checks system files for corruption, etc.

If that fails, you may have an infection. Quite a few infections hook a .dll into explorer.exe and can cause a ton of problems. Check out the computer help forum under Hardware and Technology.

Ok thanks for the info i will do that, and i think if it does fail i think i will just reformat once again...On another note could it be that the hard drive is beginning to crap out or do you think that this error is strictly and error from an infection,,,

-----Edit-----

Tryed using CHKDSK and it said that it could not find AUTOCHK.EXE and that it could not find it on the HD or the DISK which i though was weird. But yet when i looked for it on the disk it was there and the same for the HD
