Explorer crashes and reboots in infinite loop

When I start my computer Explorer crashes, this means that the start menu and desktop are gone and i'm left with a blue screen. The only way i can run apps is by using task manager. When explorer crashes it restarts and then promptly crashes again making my computer pretty much useless. Anyone had this problem before and know how to fix it? Thanks.

try to boot from floppy and run setup from you windows cd and see if that fixes things

Have you booted into safe mode to see if it continues this problem? If it doesn't then I would use msconfig to narrow down the software/driver problem. When did the error start? Have you installed new RAM or a new program?

I tied booting into safe mode and the problem still occurs. It started when I was using bearshare and downloading files. When I would look at the files i downloaded then explorer would crash but would immediatly reboot and then be fine. After this happened a few times it started infinitely rebooting.
