1. The mods aren't required to explain, but can if they see fit. (And I'm not a mod). You're not entitled to an explanation.
2. By the looks of it, the question in your post was basically answered and folks were on to just posting witty (or not-so-witty) banter. If that's the case, why keep the thread around?
3. By just glancing, it could also be argued that the thread was locked because it served little to no purpose. And, before you come back with "Well, what about thread X or Y? They don't do anything", remember that the mods are human. Each one of them makes judgment calls as best they can given the rules of the forum. They're not going to be perfect (The humanity!) On any given day, you could probably lock/delete 90%+ of Off-Topic because it's just a bit too off-topic and basically a waste of space.
4. Do not take it personally. It is not meant as some affront to your manhood. We all know that you took out Apollo Creed and have the power of Greyskull, but believe me when I say it's just not worth it. Do not take it personally. Go grab a yoohoo or something.
5. For the record: what appears to be a very arrogant "Explain." will usually get you diddly squat from the mods. I know I personally wouldn't want to respond to it. If that's not how the thread title was intended, then you might want to rethink the way you might come across.
