It's the name that's been given to the oldest male child in every other generation of my family, dating back as far as I know.
Do all your family members have as kickass an office as you do?

Nope. I'm sort of the black sheep of the family. Everybody else has a "real job"; my brother two years younger than me has had a Dilbert-style cubicle job since college, the next brother has gone back to college to study computer programming, and my youngest brother works for the state government human resources department.

They get to do the 9-5/Monday-to-Friday thing. Me, I spent all day Sunday with a film crew out here using my movie cameras, lights, and sound equipment to film gratuitous nude scenes for a suspense/thriller. It's a rough life, I tell you.

Mantis Fist = a Traditional Chinese bareknuckle boxing style that I practice.

Monk = I'm the type who needs every incentive I can get to remain humble and unbiased.

So I try to throw in things like that in whatever I do to remind me to be a better person.

Also monk relates to shaolin relates to the style of boxing relates to this that and the other etc.

Anyways, I'm trying to change my name.

Anyone want to tell me how?

Seven Star Northern Praying Mantis?

Calling yourself a "Monk" is a bit . . . tacky, esp. done in earnest, IMO.

Anyhow, you have to email/message the mods to petition for a new name.

Actually, Traditional Grand Ultimate Plum Blossom with a touch of 7* and other Northern Styles.

Then the off-shoots, such as Western and Russian Boxing (in Russia the bags punch you) and Muay Thai.

Like I said, the monk is just thrown in there to remind me to be humble is all really.

If you have actually looked into what these monks do, then it is an understatement to say that they are an inspiration to be non-judgemental, humble, open minded and kind etc.

Regardless, I'm pretty impressed and shocked you actually knew what I was talking about.

When I was thirteen I went to school in full kit drag because of discriminatory dress code that I found offensive. I was kicked out of school, sued, and won.

My hot australian ex got poked in the stomach by me and she said, "EGH..." then finished it up with, "GO" as a play on the waffles.

I use to play MTG (Magic: The Gathering) way back in the day, so when I was trying to come up with a name for something else, probably a profile for some game this popped into my head.. the actual card sucked though, but I thought the name sounded a little cool, I could be wrong!
