is it a good watch? How does it compare to say DBZ?

I actually enjoy it loads. My wife watched it with me, and she enjoyed it more than DBZ. She still laughs when we watch Fist of the North Star, and she loves Trigun, Love Hina, Bubblegum Crisis/Crash.

It's completely different from DBZ.

The whole concept of Guyver is about a teenager who uses the Guyver Bio Armor to fight bad guys trying to convert humans into monsters (known as Zoanoids) and rule the world.

I set this one during the Olympics i believe...was feeling proud to be Canadian.

I've not bothered to change it since...

They even remade Guyver a few years ago, which is the box shot that he showed (not the original show). Probably obvious given the whole blu-ray part 😛. I only ever watched a few episodes of it... I think I had trouble getting them back when it came out. Actually, I just looked and apparently I have all 26. Maybe I'll have to watch it.

I finally got mine switched to Takahashi Ryousuke from Initial D. I've always liked the character because of his calm demeanor and overall knowledge.

It's just a picture of the best written female character (in any genre) I've ever seen. Originally envisioned to be a protagonist, Rukia didn't develop to really fill that role, so another character was created to fill that spot. She wasn't given a co-star billing where she shares the spotlight, yet she often eclipses the lead as it is often her personality that is defining the scene. What generally takes an entire cast of one-dimensional characters to bring out, Rukia can do all by herself.

So often the main character is locked to the plot and the secondary characters are locked to the main. Rukia is refreshingly free. Basically, she was written as a complete person rather than a plot device, giving her considerable freedom of movement. She isn't the love interest. She isn't the sidekick. She isn't the damsel-in-distress always raining problems for the hero to fix. She has a separate existence and her own path.

Her picture serves as a reminder of a full expression of femininity -- one that isn't soured with neuroses and imbalanced with self-centered defensiveness out of fear of losing (or not gaining) perceived entitlements.
In all her varied moods, she comes across as healthy, unlike so many nowadays who are so full of constructed coping mechanisms.

I had the original release on VHS... and bought the Blu-Ray... The Blu_Ray more closely resembles the Manga... i noticed little changes in the first few episodes... but it's more obvious in the episode that introduces Lisker. The fight is alot more streamlined, and Lisker doesn't die until the Big Battle at Cronos Japan HQ. In the original VHS, he was killed at the warehouse battle when Sho damaged his Control medal.

My avatar is a picture of myself.

And obviously taken by yourself by extending your arm with the hand holding the camera. So, an even better explanation of your avatar is that you have no friends in the real world who would be willing to take your picture for you.

Wow...did one of your goats make you sleep alone last night or something?

Fighting with a child on the internut FTMFW!

It's Connor from the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, or a bird that looks just like him.

I love parrots, had a parrot avatar at the old forums. Used to have a couple of cockatiels when I was growing up. Not sure I'll get another one though, they're really messy. But they are very cool animals.

There, had to make a post to see which one showed up. My avatar is a chalkboard with an apple. Written on the chalkboard is the indefinite integral of e^x dx. I'm a math teacher among other things. I could probably edit my avatar to show a goat chewing on the edge of the chalkboard, but that would only perpetuate the myth that goats eat anything. In reality, they're picky eaters (it's just that they'll eat a couple of things you wouldn't expect them to eat.)

Anyway, to explain further, the integral is the symbol for the anti-derivative. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Suppose we wanted to find the area under some continuous smooth curve f(x) over some interval, say, 0 to x*. Obviously, the area should depend on the value of x* that we choose, thus we can say that F(x*), the area under the curve from 0 to x* is a function of x. Now, I don't know how to find the area under the curve, but it might be surprising to discover that I can take the derivative of it. Using the definition of the derivative, the limit as h approach zero of f(x+h)-f(x) all over h, we can describe this limit geometrically... (to be continued if I ever get that bored.)

I always wanted to see the guyver series since i had seen 3 episodes before they pulled it of the tube.
I found the series on the internet as streaming video a few months ago. It is low quality but for a cartoon sufficient. I can now finally sleep in peace because i know the story. 😀 Pretty good story too. Also the way the plot unravels is very nicely done. Very rare such twists in plots and the mixture of having to continue to watch to know how it ends.

No. First, it was meant to be funny, but upon re-reading it, I see that the tone certainly didn't transfer with the text. [edit: yeah, and upon re-re-reading it, I apologize to JosephF.] But, it's also that I just find self-taken pictures by extending your arm to take the picture to be obnoxious. I say roughly the same thing to friends on facebook who change their profile pictures to similarly retarded facebook poses.

Okaaaaay.... I thought maybe today was the day your school announced cuts or something. : /

The supposed to be funny part is that I'm implying that since he can't find someone to take a picture of him, that he doesn't have any friends. I've sent a PM to him apologizing for that. I'm sure he has friends, and can't believe I'm even explaining this.

And, no, I'm in a great mood today. Got to sleep in, got to deposit a nice sized check for a goat that I sold. Had a great weekend in Tennessee showing goats & going up against most of the top breeders in the country. (Won a couple of first places, and a couple 2nd and 3rds with only 6 goats that I took down there.)

Thought you don't teach calc though. School out today or something?

Yes, I teach calculus, through one of the SUNY universities. That way, my kids take my final exam, and assuming they pass, they get a grade through the university. Their transcript from that university is identical to if they had attended class on campus for that course.

Week off - Spring break. I'm just waiting for this passing storm to, well, uh, pass, then I'm heading back outside to do more yardwork.
