Explain why I always seem to get sick around holidays?

Just because you don't hang out with people doesn't mean your co-workers don't. If they have out of town family and friends around then its easy to spread something mild around the office.
 
I only get sick during periods of high stress, I assume its because my immune system drops. As soon as the stress is over, I start to feel better.
