Been working on a random reboot problem with my new system.
Had potentially narrowed it down to a Video Card problem (ATI Radeon 9600 XT)

Managed to download the latest ATI package on another computer and then copied over to the new one. Installed it and my computer would have a Fatal system error every time I tried to startup. Couldn't read the error numbers cause the display was too messed up. But managed to find some information from Microsoft and the ATI site that led me to believe there was some kind of problem with this ...

Also found a similar problem that was solved by changing the ...

Via CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller ----> PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge

Haven't had a reboot in about 2 hours ... Screen looks fine ... and I'm about to go ahead and take the Internet connection off this old computer and put it back on the new one.

Now ...
What did I do to my computer and is it a bad Idea?

I seem to have disabled my AGP ... which I can't imagine is a good thing ... at least not for most Graphics applications (Games).
 
Sorry, but you didn't explain you problem so we can understand exactly what is wrong.
Try again, and keep it simple and straightfoward....
 
It's more like a problem solved, but I wonder how and whether it was worth it.

Problem:
Random Reboots every few mins.

Solution:
Changed the ...
Via CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0 Controller ----> PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge (in Device Manager under System Devices)

... and it seems to have solved the problem.
But it appears that this has disabled my AGP capability.

Have I basically turned off my Graphics Card by doing this?
Is so, do I have any other options? (There were other options besides PCI to PCI bridge in the menu)
 
I've also had some problems with the latest Catalyst drivers and my 9600XT. Do you have overdrive enabled? This caused a lot of random reboots on my gaming box.

By changing that setting, you haven't disabled your graphics card. You still have your monitor plugged into, right? So it's not disabled.

Which Motherboard/BIOS are you running? Might be able to give you more information about that setting if your provide that info.
