Explain: Overclocked card performs slower than at stock settings

You need to raise your mem clock, you created a bottle neck by upping the the core by the same amount as ram.
 
It has happend to me before. You really have to just experiment with settings. I usually start by upping the memory as high as it will go, then slowly raising the core speed until I get the most performance out of the card.
 
I think I read somewhere that if you OC past a certain point, performance will actually degrade, even if the card is still stable. I dunno about your case though, cuz that isn't really much past stock speed.

Eventhough, the bottleneck would be higher than at the 275/560 no? If yes, then I'm a complete dumbass.

It would seem to me though that you should be able to go 275/550 to 300/550 and STILL have the same score or higher, not lower (eventhough it would be limited by memory bandwidth).

280/560 is hardly pushing too hard.



Put the mem @580 and the speed should increase.
 
I've seen the same effect on some cards I've played with. It's possible that you are on the edge of stability and some internal processing is missing timing, causing degraded performance.

Try running it at 285 to see if it starts really freaking out (crashes / artifacts).

 
Ok, this is odd

Is it possible to have this much variation in scores from one test to the next? Differences of ~150+ don't seem reasonable.

275/550=9495
280/560=9228
285/565=9483
290/575=9661
295/585=9533
300/595=9778
300/600=9609

Doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?
