Does anyone know the difference between an Athlon 4 1.2ghz processor and an Athlon XP 1400+ running at 1.2ghz? Will a laptop running the Athlon 4 be compatible with an Athlon XP processor?

The free shipping is indeed new. Well, some people got store managers to waive it, but the manager didn't do that for me. Now, the free shipping shows up on Staples.com website. I bought mine about 2-3 weeks ago, I'm going to call and see if they will give me credit for it.....

upgrade to SXGA you should get 1280 x 1024 resolution.

I upgraded to SXGA+ and it's 1400x1050 which is a whole lotta pixels.

I don't think they offer 1280x1024 on the 900Z series (I could be wrong).

yeah same here -- i just tried to call and get a price guarantee from staples to refund the shiping charges
after calling customer servcie and getting routed to the rebate dept (??) i was finally directed to the office of teh president (800-338-0252). staples price guarantee is only for 14 days so unfortunately i did not qualify (purchased mine on 10/6). the promotion starts officially today according to a staples memo

hoepfully others will have better luck

on another note, i was able to get that $100 staples rebate to work by pointing out grace period (the rebate originally expired 9/28)

It can not be held in many laptop carriers.

It's usb 1.1 and I wouldn't get the warrenty. It already comes with a one year warrenty and for 200 dollars it's not worth it for another two years. Did anybody notice the compaq 1510 for just alittle more money? in addition to 900z it comes with firewire, radion 7500, and celeron instead of amd. Just a thought.

And also the dimension is 1.5x12.9x10.5 according to compaq website

I could not decide between compaq 900z and HP ZE4000 .
compaq
AMD Athlon XP 1500+
15.0" XGA Display
256MB DDR Presario
20.0GB UDMA Hard Drive
8X DVD-ROM

Hp will be the same config but Celeron 1.6GHz. Compaq is $1169 , hp for $90 more but have an extra battery. I won't use it for the games. I guess compaq 1510 is $20 more than hp for same config, maybe it can be another option. It will be my first laptop so any advice will be very helpful.
