Yeah, when they called, I picked up, but I forgot that that phone's buttons don't work. Instead of making the touch-tone, they just make this really strange crinkling noise. I ran over to another phone, but I didn't pick up in time. I just hit the back in my browser and refilled in my phone number, I guess they don't do auto redial.

Don't see why pushing a button to get the pin should matter. The service better be free after clearly posting the same on their website. Unless it is a scam in which case you should still be okay because they don't have your CC number. Don't know if they can scam you that badly by having you push a few buttons on your phone.

Has anyone tried to move domains registered with other companies to 1and1.com? If so can you post how you did that? I was planning on registering a domain with .tk and din't have the name server address information.

Well, at least we know it's just not like someone poped up with a quick scam. But I have a feeling this free service won't last the full 3 years though...

It works for me. Just make sure you let them know what domain is going to be hosted via "use external domain / DNS transfer" (or somesuch). Not a registrar transfer though! Anyway, if you can in your registrar, lock your domain just in case...

No, you don't have to give then real info except for a phone number where they will call you within 5 mins, in my experience. As someone said, you could even use a payphone.

I'm signed up as "Mr. Slo Gun" with an address that exists, but is not mine and is in fact far away.

The interface with the website is not that intuitive though, I'm still trying to figure it out.

Get your FTP userid via the 1and1 admin panels. You will need to change your pw since it has the original pw assigned by 1and1. They do not change your FTP pw when you change your regular login pw.
