Maybe compusa corporate should tell their own employees wtf is going on with their sales. I mean come on..the thing says 79.99 after savings yet other products specifically states "after savings and rebate" So which is it CrapUSA? Then their own employees dispute that this is even an instore sale, then complain they have no idea what the "after savings" mean! No wonder CrapUSA is full of it. Just went to CC and Pm'ed it, no hassle with CrapUSA workers or managers who are more into selling extended service warranties then customer service. Oh yeah..the girl at CrapUSA asked if I wanted an warranty on my HD, I was like "the thing has a 3 year warranty on it, do you think I need one?" Damn....what a nightmare of a time.

So here's my question. Is anyone who managed to get a killer deal by PM'ing at their local CC willing to part with a drive?? Unfortunately, everyone who works at my local CC and CUSA are nazis and won't budge for me one bit. So, if anyone has an extra one that they are willing to part with for a deal price, let me know. And i'll keep trying around here. Got a few more CC's that I am gonna infiltrate with my printed CUSA savings ad.

Just got back in SoCal with one drive from CC, PM-ed. Went to two CC stores, they sold out. Last store in area, they got 4. At first, the CC sales people seem a little suspicious, I didn't think it was going to go through. They stare at my printout ads from CompUSA. First clerk went around, asked another. Then the other clerk told him to call to CompUSA. I waited. After standing for 10 mins, he came back, and price matched to 79.99, after Tax 86.59. I didn't even argue for the 110% difference, just happen to get the drive at this incredible price w/o stupid rebates. Very nice deal, it'll take a year at least for a drive like this to drop to a price like that.

Here's what happened with me: This is in the CompUSA in City of Industry, CA. Southern California. So I get the drive from a guy (the last one in stock, by the way), and take it up to the cashier. I show her optoman's receipts from CC and CUSA, she says she has to talk to her manager about it. After waiting about 5-10min, the manager finally comes out, reviews everything, and says she cannot honor the mistakes of a cashier. I go on to tell her about yesterday's rebate discrepency, but continues on to say that what happened "yesterday" in another state cannot be honored here. She goes to an Internet kiosk and goes online to check price and tells me the same bullshit again, and I fold and buy the drive. NOTE: Reason I bought it still was that it was the last one in stock, I wanted to hang on until there was no way of coming back to price match it again. If I cant PM within 14 days as of today, I'm returning the sucker.

So next, I come home, and I received a message from a friend in Irvine saying he was able to purchase the drive at CC in Huntington Beach merely by price matching it to CUSA. He got it for $80+tax out the door (Congrats!). So now I'm having him scan that receipt for me to go back to CUSA and try to PM it again... Hopefully this time it works, because it is a SoCal to SoCal PM. So for you SoCal heads out there, hopefully there will be a receipt up for you tonight.

In conclusion: CUSA managers: teh sux0r
FsCKING n00bs!

EDIT: Here is that receipt scan I promised you Southern California guys, hope it works out well for all of you! CC Receipt Scan

EDIT 2: Well, after going back to CUSA to try to PM it again, what happened? Failure. Yeah, I got shot down again. This time could have possibly my own doing, but oh well. Scenario- I go there, go to the Customer Service counter, try to PM it with the aforementioned CC Receipt Scan, CSR calls CC to check if CC has stock, no stock. So I was rather peeved already at this point in time (Just came back from school, tired and what not), and just said fsck it, and I returned the drive. I immediately head over to CC and check their inventory, and the lady at the Computer Peripherals department says the truck is late and they had a shipment of the WD800JB's coming. So I thought to myself, "I wonder if I would have not returned the drive, if the CSR lady at CUSA would have honored the PM!" So yeah, anyways, I head over to Anaheim Fry's and CUSA and got shot down. So I gave up, went to CC in Fullerton, and they easily PM'ed the above receipt scan. I even got an extra 10%. They PM'ed the PM. So no rebate for me, my hopes of a $40 WD800JB down the tubes. CC = pwnage; CUSA = n00bs; Fry's = asses. Maybe one of you will get lucky and be able to PM the PM'ed PM (Sounds funny don't it?). I should have a new CC Receipt Scan up tonight. Good luck to all of you!

***Imported is the friend who provided the above receipt scan. The thanks should be headed towards his direction.
**Would this be an illegal thing to do? I mean, if this PMing of the PM continues, someone is bound to end up with a $20 drive or something!?
*Funny day I tell you, lots of dealing with crappy CSR's, but funny day nonetheless

Well here is my story. I read all the messages in here and decided that there is no way I am going to be able to get the 80 Gig HD for a reasonable price and I hate MIRs. So I decided I would wait for Pricewatch.com to have one around 80 bucks. Today I had to go to the (Boston) Logan Airport to pick up my mother in law for her 3 month stay with us here in Massachusetts. I arrived in Boston an hour early so I decided to ride around and wouldnt you know I saw a Circuit City 5 miles north of Boston. Well I decided to go inside and try my luck. I saw that they had an internet connection and I had no Compusa sales paper. So I had to hack into to there Circuit City only Internet Explorer and type in the Compusa address and pull up sales paper. I then took a 80 gig Drive to the CS person and said that Woburn, Ma Compusa was selling these things for $79.99 and I could prove it on the CC Internet Computer. She asked another CS rep if she could pricematch an Internet sale. I told her it was an In store only sale and go look at the monitor for proof. She reluctantly walked over and saw the price and then wanted to know if It was a rebate (again I said, without lying, that a Compusa store in Woburn was selling them for 79.99. So she then asked a sales rep to look at the monitor to verify that this drive was the same as the one that CC sells. I told the Sales Rep that there is only one 80 Gig Special Edition sold by Western Digital and he agreed and told the CS that the drives were the same. She then went back to her cash register and rang up a 73.00 price. I then (slighly) said "wait, I better get one for the wife's computer too." So all in all I got 2 HDs for $155 and change. And yes I need them both.

FYI, CUSA here in Louisville, KY has increased the IR to $20 to compensate for the $40 MIR. I'm going to try one of the CC's here and see if I can swing the same deal.

Don't get me wrong, by my previous post....I'm not a law-suit-happy jerk, I'm simply tired of playing CUSA's rebate games. I can't imagine the folks who hopped on the $100 MIR a while back on the (120Gb SE? 200Gb SE?) they were running. I don't know about anyone here, but I'd have a lot of explaining to my wife as to why I'm waiting FOUR MONTHS LATER for a $100 check!

...on a similar note, I noticed that Wheres-My-Damned-Rebate site has moved the 'mailing' date to 10/7, where it was 9/6. This New Rochelle place you guys talk about obviously increments the mailing date by 30 days automatically. That's just plain sick. If I could even get one shred of evidence to build a case, I'd be on it. Hell, MICROSOFT does rebates in the 4-8 week range not 4-8 MONTH range!

YMMV . . . Hot YMMV Deals . . . YMMV rename forum to YMMV ? Sometimes it's a crap shoot.

Sunday: CUSA Orange, CT Usual pain in butt stingy manager is off. Good for me !
1) WD800JBRTL $79.99+T out the door. Qty.1 Why didn't I get 2 or more ? Kick me, my bad bigtime.
2) Monday Same store different mgr. Now it's up to $119.99+T - $40 or $50? MR. Still OK ? AR so I bought 1

Circuit City Orange - None in stock. This store ALWAYS refuses to deal & argues out of these deals anyway.
Circuit City North Haven - Many in stock. Damn, forgot the AD & store closes in 15 minutes !
Very nice manager says "I'll need to phone CUSA" - OH Geez ... but TADA, Give her my Sunday $79.99 recipt & copy of CC Burlington,MA 110% receipt linked Earlier in this thread. ***THANK YOU ANAND POSTERS !***

3&4)She says "Perfect.Aren't WE lucky today. These 2 receipts are ALL I need." Rang up 2 Drives @ 73.99+t
Status[less tax& rebate conf.] 1)$79.99 - $40 or ?50MR, 2)$119.99 - $40 or ?50MR, 3&4) $73.99ea. no rebates
After getting shot down on recent super deals & skipping some, I'm inspired once again to do battle as needed.:D

Fumbduck,

The mgr at the Highway 6 location looks like a punk.. he almost didn't give it to me.. I think he was just too lazy to argue with me or something. Try to get the indian female clerk to ring you up.. she's the one who accidentally gave me huge mama discount hehe..

Shot down at Fountain Valley, CA as well. The manager looked to be about 35 and had braces. Man was he a loser. Oh well... Anybody trying Fry's PM and then $40 rebate?

Anteaters represent!

Edit: The manager at CompUSSR told me to call their "e-commerce" department at 1-800-278-4685 about the lack of clarity about the price WITHOUT rebate. I mean, other things say "with rebate" and this one doesn't, yet they told me $120-$40 rebate = $80. So call and complain everybody. At least we can give them a headache. I hate false advertising...

Well I guess this is still YMMV deal..

Went to Comp here in Memphis.. 1 left on shelf. Picked it up, took to checkout with the internet printout. Cashier verified the SKU and the dates on printout, asked if she could make a copy of it (I just gave it to her). Rang up and changed to $79.99 --- out the door $79.99 + Tax. Printed and mailed the rebate today too... Total cost for me was $47.38 AR.

So just keep plugging.. be very nice.. seems to work well for me.

just loddom

anyway, I go to the computer section and look for an indian girl clerk?

the highway 6 circuit city is quite a ways from my home, i live in Friendswood and work at NASA and im leaving from work to go there so ugh.

Gotto stop by C0CKUSA and drop off the ahrddrive i bought there, still unopened for full refund, and will pick up 2-3 if i can from Highway 6. I really wanted the 80$ c0ckusa price with the possibilty of a 40$ MIR, but i guess 80$ each for these is still good, i need some more space bigtime.

The special is for in-store only. print out the ad in the unadvertised special section and bring it in to your local compusa. You will get a $20.00 IR and a $40.00 MIR for a total of 79.99. Which is a decent price for the drive. Go the better route and print that ad out and get a pricematch at circuitcity for the price after rebate 79.99 with a 110% PM. The ad is not very specific about this being MIR
