muffstah - probably because [their] cost on this drive [was] $91.56 - that's what their screen showed while I was watching the manager "research" the pricematch through Circuit City database, before his approving the pricematch.
At one store, I was told the following when I showed a few printouts of a Circuit City and CompUSA receipts that had been posted online:
"You know you can get in trouble for editing and posting bogus receipts online, don't you?"
Implying that "someone" had edited the Circuit City receipts to make it look like other Circuit City stores were actually honoring their pricematch policy!
The department manager when on to state that he had been working at Sears when "someone" "supposedly" edited a receipt to take advantage of Sear's pricematching policy, changing the $300+ price of a Palm Pilot to $129 with a photo-editor. I take it by his comments, that Sears took it in the a-s due to the "supposed" bogus Palm Pilot receipt.
I had been extremely patient up to this point - simply giving him the paperwork at checkout and requesting the pricematch - then patiently waiting more than 30 minutes while they had their little pow-wow trying to figure how to squirm out of the pricematch, while I continued to walk through the store shopping.
I responded "really? I guess then you better figure out who's hacking into Circuit City's database, as I'm sure if you pull-up the ticket number, you will find this is the actual price, the individual was actually charged, at the actual store shown on the Circuit City sales ticket."
I then tacked-on, "Oh,.... You know you can get in trouble for falsely accusing someone of attempting fraud, don't you?"
His jaw hit the floor. He walked over to the main desk and instructed the other manager behind the desk to pricematch CompUSA's $79.99 price....
And out the door I went with two drives for $160 and change....

Anyone want to host the scans? I hear some people are not having great luck pricematching back to circuit city. I guess YMMV on this. I don't see why though since they offer that 30 day LPG.
So, they really pricematched the $40 rebate even after the 110-percent pricematch to CompUSA's $79.99 price?
