Nothing wrong with you, the pill will still be viable (albeit with decreased potency) - you're just tripping out because you think something's wrong.

Seriously, I don't think I have taken non-expired medicine in a few years. Everything has an expiration date on it. Even water. If taking expired medicine was that big a deal there would be a giant warning label on it and you would see lawsuits about it.
Putting that expiration date is one more way to get you to buy more.

The expiration date is VERY conservative. I personally wouldn't think twice about taking it. If the medicine caused your dizziness, it's either psychomatic (as M4H pointed out) or you're sensitive to dextromethorphan. I think DXM is what some kids take in large quantities for recreational purposes (which is dangerous, so don't do it!)

I took Tylenol that was two YEARS past the expiration date last night. It didn't help either my neck pain or headache but I'm still alive. You're fine, and if you don't believe it then go see a doctor.

Days back, one guy got charged at a bus terminal by vomiting. Hope this is not gonna be my case tonight. 🙁
 
Medication is not like food in that it goes bad when it is after its expiration date. What is typically the case is that the medicine has lost its potency so that old drug is not as strong. There are some cases where eventually a medicine breaks down into something toxic, but that is rare and it is never THAT toxic.

Don't sweat using expired medication, but don't expect miracles as far as its intended effects goes...
