I have to say that there is absolutely NO difference in speed for me with or without a subscription. That's all I wanted out of it. Glad I only did it for a year. I don't mind contributing to Anandtech because of all the hardware I've unloaded in For Sale/Trade. But, I think one year is enough. JMHO.

They did give the regular forums more speed ya know...

What I don't get is people demand so damn much when they're getting it for FREE... damn you people are ungreatful sometimes.

Look at my website. sometimes it's slow and I hear about that a lot... well damnit, it's free and nobody's paying me to make it go faster so there.

my end of ranting.

was the rant really warranted? He wasn't griping at all or demanding anything. All he said, was that he had subscribed for the extra speed and he doesn't care about the other stuff, and now he can't tell a difference in speed, so he's not renewing his subscription.

Yeah, it was kind of disheartening to see that the day after I (finally) subscribed, the regular forums got a boost.

Well, the bright side is that AT has given me an unbelievable amount of help and a lot of fun too.

Still glad I subscribed because I owed AT something, but seems like no banners is not much incentive to future perspective members.
I also believe that increased speed should be removed from the subscription ads, unless/until it is really something you get

Please don't see this as a rant or complaint, I really have no complaint, just consider it a suggestion if you please.

For me there is no question that the subscriber server is faster, even with the boost for the non subscriber servers.
It's like night and day. I'm very happy with my subscription.

My subscription runs out in a few days, and I plan on resubscribing.

I don't mind supporting this place for all the help and entertainment that it's given me over the years.

I wish it was that way for me. I notice quite a difference during peak times, and also can only access the subscriber server from work.

how can that be?

The IT dept. noticed certain individuals looking at very inappropriate sites (visual sites), so they bought an off-the-shelf internet program that searches each page/site for inappropriate content. The program also does not allow access to any site with certain words (from a canned list) in the address. Forums happens to be one of those words, and the IT dept. has not taken any time to actually edit the canned banned word list.

Oh, I get it

My workplace is like that too..... they can spend time browsing the personals in the newspaper and at the same time explain why cyber evilness must be vanquished!

True, and spend hours looking up vacation destinations and sending all the pages to the coveted laser color printer....only to gripe later that the costs associated with the color laser are to high and everyone else must use it less.:frown:

(I smell hijack..... Mods, please forgive me  )

My personal favorite was when our IS&S biggie sent this scathing e-mail explaining how much it costs to use e-mail frivously..... 72 hours later I received an e-mail (from him, no less) addressed to 'general distribution' advertising his Brickyard 400 tix for sale........ OMG.... I wish I was on the 'above the law' list

I subscribed for a year too, hoping there would be "additional features for subscribers," but a year passed and it's still the same thing, oh well..I won't subscribe again.

I can't tell the difference between a page that loads in 5 seconds and a page that loads in 6 seconds from the subscriber server, and definitely don't mind the 7 seconds it takes to load on the original server. Either way, it's just an upgrade, not any type of add-on that was said to come. The PM limit is nice, but anyone that is even a little bit organized can keep under 100 and use the PM system like there is a limit of 1000. I wanted new features, forums, avatars, etc..not upgrades.
