You'll do well with Crucial/Mushkin/Micron PC133 ram. Ram is so cheap now, can get a 256 stick for nice price!!

Crucial is out of 2100 DDR but they have 1600 cheap. I just ordered the Iwill KA266r from newegg.com I think it is better than the KK266.
Crucial said that they expect more 2100 ram in 30 to 60 days, so I order some 1600 and hope it overclocks well

here is what I priced do far
ASUS A7M 266 Motherboard $180
256mb PC2100 DDR Sdram $345
AMD TBird 1.33Ghz 266FSB CPU $309

What do you guys think?

When Crucial comes out with PC2100 DDR Sdram it should be a lot cheaper.

the kk266 isn't a ddr motherboard...try again.

the ka is...using ali's magik sh1tset..

it's decent actaully...better than your average SDR board..

though if u run the kk266@165/166mhz fsb w/ quality sdram @cas3, you should be getting some killer performance...not sure if the bios supports 2/5 pciclk ratio, tho i assume it does...since people have their crap running at that speed.

Windows should use all 256 of it,
but you would probably benifit more with win2k

sdram @cas3 isnt quality sd ram, if you are going to buy good ram get cas 2, its the only way to go.

WHOA...I read the first few posts and just...WHOA!

The Iwill KK266 is an SDRAM motherboard based on the KT133A chipset.
The Iwill KA266 is a DDRSDRAM motherboard based on the AMD 760 chipset.

Plan accordingly. :p

Is this combination feasable and is it the right combination.

CPU= AMD Athlon{tbird} 1.2 Ghz / 266 fsb
Mobo= Iwill KA266R / DDR
RAM= 128Megs Crucial DDR PC1600

Looks good, but I personally would get 256mb of ram if I was spending so much on a cpu, 128 doesn't seem to cut it like I used to..didn't really notice how big of a different it can be until I upgraded.

Jeez lots of incorrect stuff in this thread. Your last post is good though. Get 256 Ram like Judgement said.

I would reccommend the t-bird 800 with the pc1600 ddr 256megs.
you can overclock this combo to get you the same performance for way less dough.
Where do you guys get deals on cpu's?

Newegg.com and tcwo.com are my two favorite places to shop online, their cpu prices are usually pretty good.
