What should I do? It only seems to do this after it's been on for abit if I unplug it for abit and then plug it back in and turn it on it will work fine.

Is it garbage.

Thanks.

reset cmos or hit F2 or F10 (cant remeber which) on boot, load defaults, save and exit. maybe change the cmos battery too. see what happens..

ITs not trashed, I've had serveral systems come to me with these errors, it is simply the CMOS resetting itself. Most likely the CMOS battery on the motherboard is dead. These are simple enough to replace, looks like an oversized watch battery. Go to Radio shack, and a new one will cost $1-$2. Even your corner drug store may have the right size. Once the batt is replaced reset the bios options to default, or however you like them set and it should work like a charm until that battery dies in 4-5 years. 650MHz machines are not all bad. IF you load them up with RAM and a fast HDD they will do what you want them to do. I have a compaq Dual PIII 600 machine on this desk right now I use to surf the internet, do basic 3D modeling, and control my render farm for large 3D rendering projects. Works like a charm with 1GB RAM and Win 2K Pro.

What model of Compaq is it that you have?

well I reset the CMOS and it's set it to defaults and still the same things happening, I don't think it's the battery because it's eeping the time just fine, anyone think of anything else it could be?
