Hi,

I?m having problems with all of my games locking up in Windows ME.

My games usually crash within 5 minutes and I have to restart my computer.

I have tried formatting my HD and re-installing Windows with ALL the latest hardware drivers but games still lock up, this
happens with both DirectX7 and DirectX8.

Strangely though it doesn?t lock up in 3Dmark 2000 or any other 3D graphics benchmark and if I install an old AGP Port minidriver from AMD games don?t lock up either - The problem is though that with the older driver installed my games never run faster than 25FPS.

My system components are:

AMD Athlon 700Mhz
Asus K7M Motherboard ? Latest Bios
256 Meg Ram
32 Meg DDR GeForce Graphics card ? Latest official NVida drivers. (3.50)
Graphics Aperture in bois set to 128Meg

None of the above are overclocked and I have sufficient cooling in my case.
This problem has only been happening for the last 3 months and has gradually got worse - it was working fine for 6 months and I haven?t changed anything for it not to work.

My current AGP transfer is x2, how do I change this to x1 ???

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this problem ???

I was having the same problem. Try editing your system.ini file. Under display add this line, DevBmp=3DO. My system has yet to lock up after this. And as far as I can tell it doesn't affect performance
