Experience with Dell UltraSharp 1905FP monitor?

Hi:
Just looking for some feedback on the current Dell 19' LCD offering- UltraSharp 1905FP, in case someone owns one. I'm particularly curious about the following:

1) From what I can tell, the response rate for it is 20ms. Does ghosting occur then when playing fast placed games like Doom 3 or HL2?

2) The main reason I want to get a LCD is to reduce eye fatigue. However, while doing a search on this forum for the 1905fp, I was alarmed by what stonep posted in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...1&threadid=1426482 , about how he experienced eye fatigue with this model due to the high contrast rate. Not sure how others who own this monitor feel it is on the eye?

I have the 1905FP and I love it. Also have a 1800FP Dell LCD.

I play some games, MOH - Pacific Assault with no ghosting. On the 1800FP that has a 30ms response, I played a lot of games, DOOM3, MOH, call of Duty, Conflict Vietnam - never any ghosting and that was with a 30ms reponse.

If I remember correctly there was someone who contacted Dell about this monitor and was told that it is actually 16ms.

I wouldn't worry about ghosting on it. As for fatigue from the high contrast ratio, I don't know. Its definitely possible, but I think it's more subjective, like how some people can't use refresh rates lowere than 100 on CRTs.

Thanks guys. I understand the eye fatigue thing will differ from person to person. I just wish there was a chance I could view this monitor in person and "test drive" it, so to speak. Dell.ca has a good deal now on a computer+monitor package, but looks like I'm going to have to pass on it, and get a LCD monitor seperately, one I can test drive first.

I can get them for $$05 + tax @ work thru Dell Business, but I have to buy 4. Should have someone who wnats 2 of them, so hopefully the guy who may want the 4th comes thru 🙂

If I can't get that, then I will most likely get the Dell 1703FP (can get it for $319 + tax) from Dell home using 20% off coupon for just 1 monitor.

I have a 1905 at work. While I've never played a game on it, there are certain times I can definitely see ghosting just with the mouse pointer. For instance, the light blue at the very bottom of this page. If I drag my mouse across it, I can definitely see a ghost trail behind the pointer.

I just got the 1905. I ran some ghosting apps and it seemed fine. However, when running HL2 maxed out, i do think there is some ghosting or slight dragging of the images when moving. I've never seen other LCDs, so i don't know how to compare this. It's much better than my CRT and i haven't had any other issues with it, but i do think it ghosts on HL2.
