Hi,

I now have an Asus CUBX with a Celeron 566 running at 850MHz at 1.65 volts. This is the max for this combo. I know the CPU is capable of a lot more because I've had it running at 952MHz on my Abit BE6-II. As mentioned previously in this Forum and others, the CUBX seems to have a voltage problem in combination with the new Celeron CPUs. The newest BIOS (1006) has improved things slightly but I'm still not satisfied with this board. I'm now considering replacing it with the Asus CUSL2 but I don't want to get burned again.

My question: Have any of you tried the CUSL2 with a Celeron 566 and vCores greater than 1.65?

With the high price of this board I don't want to screw up again. I'm counting you guys...

Cheers,

i would say you are pretty damn lucky to be getting 850 out of your cubx. i guess that since mine needed 1.7, and the cubx locks at anything past 1.65, that was my problem.

this was my first asus purchase and has tainted me toward asus products.

i ordered an abit se6 to replace this. hope all works out for you.

Has this problem been corrected? This is a MAJOR issue, as a friend has just purchased the CUBX and ordered a CII.

Eug,

I really don't know if the CII / CUBX problem has been resolved. I haven't been looking that hard since my combo is now running. As I mentioned, the latest bois (1006) seems to have improved things but I can't say for sure because I also added a Golden Orb and some Artic Silver thermal compound to the mix at the same time I flashed the bios.

I was hoping that someone with more experience would find the solution to this one but it looks like the real players are all using PIIIs and not CIIs.

I would be very interested in the results your friend gets with his setup.

Thanks. My friend is gonna probably get the Celeron 533A instead of the 566 he had planned on getting. You're lucky, because not too many of the 566 chips hit 850 completely stably at 1.65 V, but many of the 533A chips will at 800. (He's also getting an Alpha PAL35t, and being the generous person I am, I've giving him some of my precious Arctic Silver. ;))

Just put together a box with the SE6 and a 566 celery.
Runs great with stock HS&F at 1.7 volts @ 850. It is probably stable at lower voltages but this is a customers box and I didn't want it coming back for errors.
Only running PC-100 mem at 100MHZ and onboard video. He is going to upgrade later.
