They've aquired nothing. They have applied for patent which will be granted (anything gets granted by the USPTO these days), but will be useless. The minute they try to enforce their "IP" the patent will be invalidated based on prior art.

Anybody who lets go of their ability to reason when speaking any company's product is a fanboy.
For example this clearly isn't Apple's design or technology. Its ok if someone didn't notice that fact from the video, but defending a lie just because its could somehow maybe, possibly be related to Apple falls under the above criteria.
