So I'm sitting here eating my Bowl Noodle ramen, and I like it alot. It's kind of expensive as ramen goes, like $1 for a bowl.

Expensive ramen, yay or nay?

Does it taste better than "cheap" ramen?

I'd rather get the fancy man's ramen when it's on sale than normal ramen.

People dont eat raman because they really like it. Its ok, but normally its because they are poor

Expensive ramen, to me, is something that costs $0.12 each as opposed to regular price of $0.10 each.

As far as packaged ramen goes, the kind from asian supermarkets (some chinese brands in particular) are good. They're like 50c each or more but they come with all these separate flavor packets (dried scallion or mushrooms, sesame oil, base flavor powder, chili powder, etc) instead of just one. They're pretty tasty.

You are talking about instant noodle here. The stuff that comes with its own bowl is more expensive because of shipping cost more than anything else. Just buy the regular ones and get a bowl yourself.

Are you just talking about packaged ramen? If so, then I usually go for the more expensive stuff now, because it actually does taste better IMO.

I prefer to actually go to a restaurant for real ramen though.

As a college student who has eaten many types of ramen, I would say that expensive ramen is worth it. I used to eat the cheap stuff until I had a korean roomate, and the difference was huge. "Expensive" ramen tastes far better than the cheap stuff and once you eat it, it's very difficult to go back to the other stuff. My favorite ramen is Shin Big Bowl and I can easily go through 2 or 3 cups a week.

There's a local store called Wajimaya or something like that. It's like an Asian costco. I love it!

I recently did a comparison of the ramen found at the local store. Here are the results.

Nong Shim Corp. Ansung Tang Myun == A
Nong Shim Corp. Shin Ramen ======= A-
Nong Shim Corp. Kimchi =========== A-/B+
Sapporo Ichiban ================= B
Top Ramen ==================== C+
Maruchan ===================== F--

Yes! I love the Nong Shim ramen noodles. I first had the bowl noodles when a korean roommate introduced them to me. I can buy them at the Super Wal-Mart for $1. However, I prefer to make noodles on the stove.

When I was Canada at a big supermarket (forgot the name, it was in Calgary. Really big, kind of like a super wal-mart) they had the Nong Shim ramen noodles in your normal pack. They are fvcking great. I dunno if I can buy them around here though. I'll need to check my local asian market.

it was great. far better then the $.10 version. had more flavor and better noodles.

but i don't think it was worth the extra.
