Yeah, I was surprised it was pretty much Expedia and Booking now. But I haven't used any of the Expedia properties in a long time. If I book a hotel, I usually use Priceline, Booking, or just book direct. But I prefer to stay in AirBnB if possible for leisure travel. And I use Kayak and Google Flights to search for airfares. And for rental cars, I use Costco Travel for domestic and Priceline for international car rental. So I guess I'm a fan of Booking properties.

Priceline got rid of bidding and name your own price. There's only regular and express options now. I use express when I need cheap motel. It's usually about 5-10% cheaper than direct.

I use Kayak and Momondo to double check Google Flights. Kayak and Momondo are pretty much the same and owned by Booking. Sometimes there are some Kayak/Momondo hacker fares that don't show up on Google Flights and vice versa.

I consider name-brand official hotel booking (with no discount) like paying sticker price for a car... no one pays sticker price.

I book under either a corporate code or at the government rate (wife is government contractor).

I pay sticker price and so does everyone I know. But no one I know works for the big corporate or government. Everyone I know either owns small business or works at one. I've negotiated cheaper rates in person couple of times but that's not an option for online booking. But I rarely stay at name-brand official hotel now. I can get so much more for my money with AirBnB.
