I'm on a horrible Celeron 2.4ghz 512mb ram ASUS P4SP-MX computer. I get anywhere from 20 to 60 fps in CS with choke and loss. If I bought a nice video card, say a GF 6600 GT AGP 256mb, what kind of fps can I expect? What constantly? I am living in a temporary location, I have a better computer in another place that I will eventually use the nice video card in... thanks!

Get a 9800 pro for $120 and the GPU will not be your bottleneck anymore. 6600GT will be a waste with your system. Check Hot Deals forum and search there.

I forgot to mention my current video card is a nvidia TNT2 Model 64 32mb.

I don't think a 6600GT would be a waste for my other system that I mentioned... P4 2.8ghz 800FSB.

Original Half Life 1 CS... remember, I'll buy that nice video card and plug it into my nicer computer at home, when I get back. Still wondering what kind of FPS I'll get with a certain card. :)

Your fps won't be bad if you get the 6600 GT. Thats what I have and I run CS jsut fine. I also have a barton 2500+

Regular CS? probably 100FPS ALL the time with either of those cards. With my old 9500 Pro I could run CS 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 8x AF anf get 100FPS constant except occasionally in smoke it would slow a little bit.

Definitely 100 FPS constantly. I got 100 FPS constantly with a GeForce 2 and a Barton 2500+.

Depending on the resolution yes. I would probably get an Nvidia 6600 just in case though.
