Expanding the life on my computer.

I'm looking to expand the life a little of my soon-to-be out of date AGP/s754 computer setup before I have to upgrade everything to the newest stuff.

I'm looking to basically get the best AGP videocard that's in the $200 price range.

I was looking at the Radeon x800GTO and the Geforce 6600GT.

Out of those two, which would be the best? I've heard conflicting answers.

Also another card would possibly be the 6800. Which is better out of the x800GTO and 6800 as well?

x800gto by far

it's very possible that the gto can reach x850 xt pe speed

but i highly doubt that the 6600gt can achieve similar performance when oced

make sure that the x800gto that you buy can be modded to such though
since i've been reading that some brand is no longer moddable

Personally, I'd hang on until nVidia releases the AGP 6800GS. It's 200 dollars give or take and will outperform either of those video cards you listed, probably by a fair margin.

Alright, what about without any OCing at all? Would it still beat out the 6600GT, or with stock speeds would the 6600GT be better?

I believe you cannot unlock any extra pipes on the Sapphire X800GTO, but it still overclocks quite well, and is fast at stock speed.

Yeah, I saw that they were sold out. I found it on a couple of other sites for a little more expensive, though.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've decided on the GTO then. Thanks everyone for your input.

yeah get the GTO but since u buying AGP, i heard the AGP cant unlock to x850 so dont get it thinking u can unlock 100%, cause pci-express is the one that unlocks most of the time. still u can overclock it faster than 6600gt.
