At least post it for me.

I personally talked to missionaries in the Philippines who were living in an area that supposedly had 'demons' and they told me that one night bicycycles went up and down the street without riders!! Also, one of their young sons, started to float around the room.

Mostly, I believe that anyone who believes in demonic possession is fracking nuts.

I used to believe the same until I heard a story about a 3 year old who was supposedly possessed reciting scripture in fluent Arameic.

There are too many unexplained things in the world. Better to keep an open mind about things.

alright. a guy i know got messed up really bad in the head for trying that bloody Mary thing. Here's the jist of what ALLEGEDLY happened:

- he was dared to do the bloody Mary thing with a blue hand mirror
- he did it and saw the face of Mary (bloody)
- the mirror turned red (the plastic part - not the actual mirror)
- they burned the mirror and buried the remains somewhere
- he continued to see the face in every mirror he looked into for X number of weeks
- it just stopped happening eventually.
i used to ride dirt bikes and ATVs with this guy, and he would never speak about it. when i used to ask him about it, he would almost act as if he hadn't even heard me speak.

so there you go, shens away suckers.

Hmmm...I found Wikipedia a bit more helpful. Man, I love that site :)

Anything 'evil'...such as possessing forces that need to be excorcized.... can only effect you if you let them. Fearing them gives them power over you. Hold yourself above them, don't let yourself fall into the victim mindset, and believe you cannot be effected. Believing in just about anything can make it 'real' or give it power over you...that's my philosophy.

I also keep hearing a story about a scuba diver who was found dead in the middle of a forest fire.

Wasn't that an episode of CSI?

You know, I think it was. I've also heard it in the context of an urban legend.

Mythbusters had a great episode about the urban legend. They found/built a super power pump to see if you can actually suck a person up with one of those firefighting helicopters. I don't remeber if they busted it or confirmed the myth, though. It's been a while since I've seen the epsiode.

It was pretty much a failure. Then they did their bit where they see what it would take to make it happen, and took off the protective screen and the scuba tank and then Buster got stuck to the intake, but not sucked up into it. The wetsuit took some damage.

Wikipedia to the rescue again :p
I was pretty sure it was three when I was a kid, and that's what Wikipedia says. We were supposed to have a candle burning too, though. Being in a dark bathroom alone in front of a mirror with a candle burning when you're trying to do it is a pretty scary thing when you're six :p

When someone comes to me with scientific proof obtained through solid methods, then I believe.

There's lots of unexplained stuff that gets explained every day and once we have the explanation, it doesn't seem so mysitical anymore. There are no gods, there are no demons, there are no ghosts. Only stuff people made up to explain what they couldn't explain at the time. Eventually it all gets worked out.

But someone else said it best, if you believe in it, then it has power over you. I don't doubt the power of suggestion at all.

anyone else know any other rules or interesting stuff about possesion/exorcism....

Asking questions is a bad idea because the priest would be giving the demon a chance to influence him. It's safer to simply focus on the task at hand.

Scuba diver in the middle of a forrest fire: I think this is urban legend. However, if could happen if a helicopter were scooping water out of a bay/ocean in a giant bucket to dump on the fire; the scuba diver was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This could be possible in California where forrest fires occur close to the ocean.

there is not such thing as ghosts, no such thing as demonic possessions.

all you guys heard are storys, never anything witnessed by you. present me with something factual and maybe i'll change my mind.
