I agree I think its related to not wanting to expand into the mobile space the same reasoncited for Dirks release.
Uh so the guy responsible for server business was let go.. because he didn't want to expand into mobile space? That are completely different businesses and since AMD unlikely wants to leave the server business any time soon that seems hardly like a reason.

Uh, I think we'll need ARM sooner than later in the desktop/server space :/

YES !!!

Finally we will have INTEL World Domination !!!!!

:WHOOT:

Let the prices skyrocket.... praised be!

Robert Rivet joined AMD in 2000 as the chief financial officer. As the COO he oversaw AMD’s key centralized functions, including the company’s supply chain operations, human resources, and information technology organizations.
While Robert Rivet did not make major strategic decisions at the company, which means that his resignation cannot be clearly tied to the step down of CEO in January, he was clearly very influential and very important at AMD. Perhaps, the board of directors did not see how the potential of Mr. Rivet could further serve the company after it undergoes a major reformation.
AMD is up to something....kick a guy with influence outta the house.

Marty Seyer joined AMD in 2002 as the vice president of server business. In fact, the whole career of Mr. Seyer can be linked to server technology.
Given the fact that the board of directors no longer wants an experienced server specialist to influence the strategy of the company, it may mean that the BOD does not see server chips and technologies as a top priority for AMD.
.... okay yeah... something is def. up... AMD is pulling out of the server market? Why?
To focus more on non server market?

So their leaveing the server market for... mobil phones? tablets? more netbook focus?
Is that just a guess or.. any rumors going about like that?

My understanding was Dirk was focused on keeping AMD afloat on their CPU and GPU divisions. The BoD wanted to push for alternatives to ARM in a similar way to nVidia. They see the explosion of mobile devices and wanted to jump in which Dirk was against. Hence their parting of ways.

Again thats what I read was the major factor.

So..... Amd ARM processors to come?

If arm really do want into the desktop pcs... I guess getting AMD onboard would be a quicker route to doing so.

Maybe. I think they're looking to compete with nVidia and Tegra and its competitors.
