Exhaust opinions.

I'd love to give the tc a nice exhaust, nothing canister like or near rice, while keeping the oem look, alot of research on scion life points me to either the TRD exhaust or the Apexi World Sport 2.

Listen to both videos and and please give your honest opinions.

*to all of you saying don't mod its a waste of money, but the reality is im a kid, its my first car and everybody gets the bug to mod there first car, i own it outright and plan on keeping it until i run it into the ground, being a toyota im hoping *knock on wood* that should not be a problem.*

TRD

Apexi WS2

Thanks,
Heller

Buy a Borla or Magnaflow muffler from Summitracing.com that is comparable in size to your stock muffler. Take it to a local muffler shop, and tell them you'd like it in place of your stock rear muffler. You will get great sound and maybe a couple HP for 1/3 the price of those systems. With either of the ones you posted, you will gain maybe a couple HP and spend an absurd amount of money on a product that's not that special.

e: God I can't stand the sound of that motor.

Borla or Magnaflow + import = fail. They just don't sound right 90% of the time.

That said, from my Honda days everyone liked the WS2. I had a Tanabe something or other (not a canister type, looked like a WS2 actually) that sounded good.

For a 4-banger, the stock exhaust is sufficient. Other drivers have ears too.

When it rusts out or falls off I'm sure Midas has several nice OEM replacement options.

None, i don't think you'll get ANY powergain on that NA motor.

Spend that money on suspension or somethign that will actually make difference on that car.

....erm, it's all a waste of money. Just put another resonator in there somewhere. It'll fit and shut the car up (what I just did).

If you MUST put an exhaust on a 4-banger, go with the TRD. Parts for the vehicle by the manufacturer are always the win.

Also, realize that you will NOT see any power gain at the wheels unless you tune the ECU...and even then, you MIGHT get 5hp if lucky...this thing is basically a sound-box.

thanks for the input. for all you suspension guys, i was thinking tein h tech springs, thought on this?

H-techs seem to work well on the Subarus...mild drop and improved handling without killing the ride, even on stock shocks.

I suggest you look into sway bars as well. If you lower you really should get better shocks as well.

I'd go for the Trd. My friend has one on his tc with a CAI and it sounds vicious. Power gain can be felt past 3000 rpm

I had a Magnaflow muffler on my V6 Tacoma and it sounded pretty good..not too loud, not too quiet. Granted, it was a truck motor.. 😛

hahaha

The lulz is that it'll be the intake sound that sounds good, not the scaffolding pipe used for the exhaust. Power gain == the intake noise in this case. 100% placebo.

I am confused, I was under the impression mufflers (or exhaust) don't do anything to HP

If the engine can exhale, you can definitely get more HP.

Probably not on that car though.

I plan on keeping the car awhile and let's just all admit turbos gonna bring me nothing but headaches. I'm not trying to go faster i wouldent of bought a tc. I'm thinking suspension and sway bars are going to be a must aswell. I think h techs, sway bars exhaust and cai will be fine, like I said I'm not looking for speed increase but handling would be nice aswell as some visuals.

(excuse my shitty grammar/shorthand, iPhone!)
