Exercises in Introspection - Part 1

Since we don't have a serious non technical forum, and since P&N is too, well, difficult- I'll post this here.

Take as objective a look at yourself as you can and pick a characteristic or gift if you will that you would like to have or more of.

Imagine the genie has come out of the bottle, and grants you one wish, but it's restricted to improving one thing about the quality of your character. It could be kindness, intelligence, judgment- something along those lines.

Superficial or material wishes aren't considered. Wealth or fame or two chicks at once aren't about you at the deepest level of your being.

I'll refrain from answering for now ( I have a definite choice, but I do not wish to steer the thread )


What would you ask for and why?

Hmmm....its seems as though Im about all I can be character wise. Perhaps a tad more outgoing, but that requires people play along. Ill put my best foot forward but if the other party is not interested, it doesnt matter.

Otherwise I would love perfect health again.

Willpower, specifically the ability to see a process through to completion. Usually I'm interested only in proving something can work and lose interest in refining it to the point where it's usable to the masses. This leads to lots of incomplete programs and occasionally causes me problems at work where user experience is everything (a driver that only sort of works is a lot like a whore that doesn't put out) .

More willpower, or more accurately, something to deal with procrastination.

Musical talent. I started taking violin lessons over a year ago, but I'm still working on basics. I've played around on a keyboard and have learned a few things from youtube/books, but it's mostly memorization rather than skill. I would love to be able to play by ear, especially on piano. I love listening to instrumental covers on youtube of various songs. I hope that one day in the future I will be competent enough to pull that off myself.
