Exercise Wheel

None of those ab things are worth the money. 90% of ab appearance is reliant upon bodyfat. That's ALL there is to it.

For working abs, i would say a decline bench would be your best bet. But those exercise wheels are decent (especially for the price)... the only thing, you can't add resistance to the wheel.

In any case, you can workout your abs intensely for years, but if you have a good layer of fat over it, they're not going to show. And don't think you can spot reduce fat by exercising, you can't (although there are transdermal products that can help... but even they only help with the subcutaneous layers of fat).

Yep, and the other 10% dependant on ab muscle mass is more easily obtained without all these moronic gadgets advertised at 3am by the skeeviest people alive :disgust:

i've tried one & it's definitely worth the money, although i prefer weighted situps on a decline board.

I would say it is about 1%, not 10%, if you don't work out your abs at all and get lean, you are going to have a visible sixpack, if you do it the other way around, well, you know.

A strong set of abs does help in other excersises though, so i recommend working them, just don't expect any major visual differences.

First of all ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN

All you need is a barbell with circular plates on each side, preferable the small ones (5lb). Or u can also do it with two dumbells. I hold the barbel with papertowels to reduce friction. Do em slowly and contract the hell out of yer abs...and you will feel the burn the next day.

Weighted crunches and weighted hanging knee/leg raises are going to give you defined muscles (assuming your BF% is low enough to see them). This will just make you tired.

If you don't use any sort of resistance, you'll require a much lower bodyfat % in order to see it... probably in the 8-9% range. if you work your abs well and they're actually well developed, you'll start seeing the abs at the 10-11% range. And when you get down to the 8-9%, your abs will look MUCH better than the person that didn't use resistance training.

In addition, a strong abdominal section stabilizes the rest of your body (and reduces the chance of backpack for those susceptible to it).
