We vote on Presidents to make tough decisions and we vote on on senators to write and pass or deny laws.

The libs are 'up in arms against it' because it's an idiotic insult. If the libs started using 'Manchurian Candidate' as a talking point against McCain, and you got rightfully up in arms against that, would your outrage give the libs justification for that argument? Of course not.
