I've been on flights that have had rougher landings with no mechanical problems and good weather.

some guy who supposedly was on the plane called up a radio station this mornign and said they all thought the landing gear had been fixed because the landing wasnt that rough at all rather smooth compared to other flights he had been on.

Trust me on this - they didn't just fix the nose landing gear mechanism with a brush coat of paint.

The entire system has to come out & be replaced from the trunions in the keelsons, & all removed parts will be impounded for analysis by the NTSB investigations team.

glad they are fine now. :)

I would say so. I was on a flight from NY LaGuardia last night at 7:25pm (Takeoff) back to WPB, FL. The SONG flight I was on (Delta) also has free/included TV like JetBlue does. I was reading a book and saw the tv next to mine had a jet being shown for a while on CNN. So, with all the terrorism we've encountered I thought it might be relevant and tuned in. Almost all the TV's on the flight around me were also tuned in.

Clearly it wasn't a direct risk, but, up in the air it was also intense thinking it could have been me on that flight or our plane right now in that very same situation. Of course I wonder that everytime I fly, but, seeing it happen live on the news while flying was creepier than normal.

Ah well, glad everybody was safe, including myself!

That wasn't the point. Even on a safe landing, some are rougher than others... the callers point was that the landing even with the broken landing gear was not as bad as other landings he'd been on with properly operating equipment.
