Excite@Home Go Bye Bye

I just got comcast hooked up this morning (after waiting a few days for the line to be repaired). So far it is really nice, but it's not exactly prime usage time yet. 😉

i've had att broadband in the fort lauderdale/broward area of south florida (where they bought out mediaone) and havent had any problems since i got it, DSL always gave me trouble, and was never as fast.. can't complain.

I heard Bell South is talking with AT&T for it's long distance service but without the Broadband part just the phone portion.

that's right. now I remember. In order for AT&T to purchase Bell South, they would have to sell off their broadband portion first. AT&T will buy and then sell @home. And for those who are concerned if their @home is going to be affected, correct me if I'm wrong but Excite purchased @home a while back right?

Adelphia has their own service called powerlink, they will probably switch thier @home customers over
to it soon enough.

Good

i never really did understand the point of @home... it was a company that did cable modems owned mosly by cable companies... timewarner does its own cable modem, and tca did its own as well (ah, my first cable modem back in summer '98).

wonder whats gonna happen to excite? i've had that as my startup page since they went to the my.excite thing back in 1997.

I'm very happy with my AT&T@home service. AT&T moved to buy the ISP assets to make sure that service would continue with Excite@home in bankruptcy proceedings.

Uuuggghhh.... I have had Comcast@home for three years, It has been Great I literally have had 3 outages in that time. Mail servers down maybe 8 times..... They have never once complained about me running web, game, proxy, and mail servers in that time... I hope AT&T doesn't jack the rates or screwup the service......
