Excite@Home could cease service on Nov. 30

The days of cheap broadband are over, folks.

You should be getting emails and letters explaining just that.

Dear Cox @ Home customer:

Recently, you were informed that our high-speed Internet partner - Excite @
Home - filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. We recognize that this
situation may have caused you some concern about the future of your service.
Rest assured, we are taking all the necessary steps to provide continued reliable
high-speed Internet service to our customers ? now and in the future.

We are deeply committed to providing you with a quality high-speed Internet
service. For several months, we have been hard at work creating a new Cox-
managed network to better serve you. There are many benefits to directly
managing our own network, such as:

* Easier, more streamlined customer service experience.
* Enhanced network performance.
* Ability to bring you the latest in cutting-edge technology and product
features.

In the weeks ahead, we'll continue to keep you informed and share more details
of our exciting plans. For more information, please visit www.cox.com/moreinfo
We thank you for being a valued Cox customer.

Sincerely,
Cox Communications

I don't think our MCI T1's and T3's are going anywhere. 😛

Cheers!

No need to be laughing on my account. In anticipation of service ending on November 30th, I've already switched from Charter@Home over to Charter Pipeline which, apart from a few slowdowns and e-mail problems in this first week it's been up, is doing just fine for my $50-ish a month. No dial-up in my near future, thanks to my local cable company's efforts to continue broadband service to its customers.

Really mature. Don't worry about me, chump, I'll be fine.

AT&T better win the buyout!:|

PS Viper, I thank you not for the rude wishes

And if you live in Connecticut or Long Island, Cablevision isn't going anywhere... so Optimum Online will always be there. OptiOnline is sooooooooooo fast, I miss it, it's faster than the T1 here at my college.

Either AT@T gets access to all of Excite's assets or I change my e-mail address and migrate to AT@T. One way or the other I'll still have cable.

ATT already owns my line I have been paying their subsidary Insight for 2 months now ($16 dollars more!!!) I hope that means I am in the clear I severed my @home e-mail due to the nasty virus' been getting so they have no way to contact me but by snail mail. I am not paying my bill till next week is all I know!
