Folk! I hope this serve as a warning and also I hope
to get some help.

3 weeks ago, my exchangepath account was suspended.
They suspended my account when I have the most money
in my account (over $1k in there).
It comes with no explaination whatsoever. I repeated
email for a reason on why they suspended my account,
but, they do not give me any reason. They said
that I am being investigated.
However, I just learned that another customer of mine
has been suspended as well and their account is suspended
when they have over several hundreds in their account.

My goodness! They have no telephone support. Tremendously
slow email response. I am looking into legal action
against them but I am not sure how!

Thank you for reading.

My account's suspended, too. But I always withdraw most of my money with these web-based pay services so I didn't have much money in it. Still, I have no idea why my account's suspended. I'll email them.

I got 2 of my accounts suspended, each with $500 on it. I emailed customer service and it's been a week and they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Not to argue or anything, but there's a phone number right at the bottom of my "My Account" page: 717-506-2205

Ugh...I thought it was just me.
I have a bunch of cash there too....unable to get it now.

Those bastards (sorry, but I"m a tad PO'd) should be more specific before locking out accounts.

I just hope this is a bug from their upgrade:

"As a result of new security enhancements, we need additional information from you.
We've upgraded our system! New account information is required from all members. "

EDIT: I've called the customer service#, got voicemail once but never a beep to leave a message, I waited and eventually got a off-hook beep beep. I called back and after the message played, I "left" a message, but dunno if it worked. I also tried earlier when I got the notice, but the phone# just rang and rang....

I got this e-mail a couple days back:

Dear Member:

Some of you have experienced difficulty with your account during the last week,
and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our fraud investigators
noticed numerous attempts by some members to open accounts in order to make
fraudulent transactions. To prevent these transactions and protect all our users, both
sender and receiver accounts that fit specific criteria were suspended so that an
investigation could take place. Be assured that once we activate an account, we return
valid funds to our members.

Additionally, we have added new security measures that will significantly increase the
security of your ExchangePath transactions. In order to streamline and protect member
transactions, these measures require additional information about our users.

In order to continue using ExchangePath, you will have to re-establish an account and
submit the following information. Please note that you cannot use your prior user
name, password, and email address.

- New user name
- New password
- New email address
- Credit/debit card number (Visa(r) card and Mastercard(r) card are valid credit
cards. Debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo are also valid.)
- Credit/debit card billing address
- Home telephone number
- Credit/debit card verification number (this is the 3-digit number that appears after
the 16-digit card number on the signature panel of your card)
- New password help question and response.

To enter this information, please login to the ExchangePath site and go to the 'Sign Up'
page. To go directly to the site, click on the link below. If you are not able to click on the
link, you may cut and paste it into your browser window.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. Please understand
that we are committed to offering the highest level of security for your transactions and
feel strongly that these measures will create a better environment for our members to
send and receive money over the internet.

Thank you for your continued interest in ExchangePath.

My account has been suspended, as well. I made a withdrawal prior to the suspension, but I have not seen the money as of yet. I've tried to email them, but my emails are either ignored or I get the same form letter. Very irritating.

They also locked my account and I have never sent money and only received two small payments. It has been 2+ weeks and they have yet to respond to an email of mine. I had a person who sent me money that I could not get at cancel the transaction. THEY sent an email and exchangepath responded the SAME day. This tells me that they feel all users of locked accounts don't deserve any email response and they can just keep your money. I will never use exchangpath again. I will stick with ecount.com, paypal.com and propay.com for now as they haven't screwed me over yet. It is only time before each of these services do though.

I have not been suspended by exchangepath but I've been suspended by paypal before. It was because I received funds from a stolen account. After numerous emails and phone calls I finally got it resolved. It took a 1 1/2 months. I had like 4K in the account too. I learned my lesson. I withdraw my money after each transaction so that I won't have too much money in there. Sometimes I think these people suspend your account just so that they can hold the money and make some interest off from it. It certainly doesn't look they are in much of a hurry to resolve the problem. Just be careful!!

My account was suspended 12/11/00. I finally received an email telling me that I had to add credit card information. I had no way to add this since my account was locked. Sent three emails and had no response. Here's a number to call: 1-800-987-2675. Have your user ID ready. They fixed me up right there on the spot.

I asked why there was no response to my emails. The CSR told me that they were completely flooded with them and trying to get to them.

You have to call after 9:00 AM EST.

Hope this helps.

A little safety percaution for all you to use Withdraw ALL money immediately when you make transactions i've done thousands of dollars in transactions and they immediately go in my bank account or cc .
As for theyre new policy all i had to do was change my password and get a new question and awnser
thats all! This isnt too bad but they shouldnt be locking so many accounts ... Just withdraw all money from online its just safer that way :)

I STRONGLY recommend you do NOT give them the extra 3 digit numbers on the credit card panel. That is only to be known by the cardholder and the bank. It's just as bad as if they exchangepath asked for your mother's maiden name!!!

No credit card accepting place, needs that info!

Thanks for the phone numbers!!! It's interesting that the phone number was on the "My Account" Page, a page I caouldn't access because my account was suspended! After talking to them briefly, my account was re-activated. Still lost about two cents of interest on my money. Class action anyone? :D

I had someone send me money with a stolen cc on EP (lot shorter than typing it all out, eh?) and I sent the money back to them. My account was never suspended, surprisingly.

Anyway, I'd avoid using them if you're the seller. You have 0 protection, someone here had a link on another thread saying why EP's bad news, can anyone find it? It was all about these online holding companies like PP and EP.

I've over 1k in my account and it got suspended last week.

I called them and the CSR told me I've received a fraudulent fund in November but refused to tell me which transaction (wonder why?). I only received 3 payments in November and all items I sold were shipped within US. The CSR told me to wait 1-2 weeks for the fraud investigation result. He also told me as long as I have proof of shipment that I shipped the item and it is within US, that I'll get the money back even if it is really a fraudulent fund (I'm glad I've Delivery Confirmation).

Here is a thread I posted at Off Topic

I have been using Exchangepath for a while now. At one point I had over $2,000 in my account. They have been suspending many accounts lately because of fraud. They have found that many users signed up using fake credit cards and were sending large amounts of money across their system. Slowly they have been reinstating accounts after they investigate them (they reinstated mine yesterday).

My suggestion for people who are worried is to just wait til they reinstate yours, then take all your money out, that way their is no risk. Exchangepath is owned by CMGI, a very big and reputable company.

For those of you who have been asking, i have the phone number of a representative at Exchangepath:

(717)506-2205

Any questions be sure to email me (grz2@hotmail.com)

I think you will see more and more online businesses asking for the 3 digit number on the back of the card. This is to try to reduce fraudulent use if someone got a hold of your cc number - like if they got a copy of your statement in the mailbox or a copy of a receipt that has the number on it. But without the card - they won't know what the 3 digit number is.

I have no problem contacting the customer service. I've had to call twice. Both times the call was answered in under a minute. They handled my situation quite quickly. I don't know why people are having a problem, my account remains in force and without interuption.

I found their phone number right on their webpage, go to "my account" and view "statement", it's at the bottom (717-506-2205).

The problem is that you cannot go to "my account" or "view statement" when your account is suspended. It doesn't allow you to login at all. So all you're left with is email. I've been trying for weeks now to get this resolved since they cancelled my last withdrawal(without informing me) prior to suspending my account. Most of my emails went unanswered, and the two emails I did receive in reply were exactly the same, asking me for a credit card number and address, both of which EP already had on file. Sure everything was solved once I called, but it's very exasperating if someone's holding on to hundreds of dollars of your money and refusing to answer your correspondence.

I have two accounts both of which are suspended. I called about a dozen times. They told me I received funds from stolen credit cards and I was being investigated. Heck, the CSR even told me the secret service would contact me. Needless to say, both accounts with over $2000 in them are locked. Is there any thing I can do? Any agencies I can report this to? The person told me because the transactions were international, I'm SOL. I am so upset, but I can't think of any other solutions that I have...
