We're considering enabling Exhange Instant Messaging on our Exchange 2000 Servers and I was looking to see if any of you had run it and/or have any experience with these aspects of it:
Security concerns after it is enabled.
Performance concerns.

I've run it before in a test enviroment however never in a production enviroment and I'm looking to get a better feel for how it would run in the "real world" and would like more than just what I've learned in a test enviroment and on Microsoft's website + Technet

If you know of any resources that would give me more specific answers on those aspects I would also appreciate it.

Thanks for the help

i have only tried it out from the end-user standpoint, and the one big drawback is that the client is an older version of Messenger than the one currently out.

I personally like the client, it's much more "compact" than the MSN Messenger (which is what I'm assuming you are refering to). I like clean and simple messenger clients, I guess that's why I use trillian.

As an end user how has your experience with it been?

it bothers me that i need to tell windowsupdate not to update the windows messenger client. the client works well enough, i suppose, but it hasn't caught on at work yet.

Are we talking about the same thing? It sounds like you are talking about one of their other clients.

I am refering to the Messenger clients that comes with and works for Exchange Instant Messaging.
