I just came home to this, and it made me laugh. Thought I'd share.

An 8''x8''x6'' box to ship just the SD card pictured next to it. The Blu-ray case is for scale.

i got a 6"x6"x6" x 36" triangular corrugated box from digikey that had 1x 3' length of 1/16" diameter heat shrink tubing. the tubing was kept straight and inside 2 bags that overlapped.

whoa...6 x 6 x 6 x 36? cool box. I've seen some unusual packaging...but never anything into the 4th dimension...

I love the only comment:

I commend Dell on their savvy business decision. Studies show that it's not cost effective or "green" for every company designed a custom package to compactly contain all hardware. Instead, Dell courageously just uses the package the screws already come in from their hardware supplier.

At least they don't die the thing down. I bought an action figure of King "whatever" from Lord of the Kings way back when, and my god, they strapped the sucker down for lethal injection. I think I spent a good 20 minutes carefully loosening/cutting the twisty-ties from every extremity.

Part.

1) They're individually-wrapped.
2) Every 10 pieces come in another bag.
3) Every 10 10pks come in another bag.

The plastic outweighs the product.
