i've had upper back pain for the past 15 years. it's right between the should blades. nothing i've tried relies it. i've tried chiropractors, stretching, physical therapy, etc.

so i figure i'd try the gym. the people at the gym suggested the rowing machine or the lat pulldown for upper back. but i dont feel anything between the shoulder blades.

anybody got any other ideas on how to workout the muscles between the shoulder blades?

Try an upright row. Standing, bent over forward, pull straight up towards chest.

If by between the shoulder blades you mean your trapezius muscles, shoulder shrugs or upright rows would hit them pretty well.

JC - that's a barbell row. Upright row is where you're standing straight up and you lift the barbell to your chin (works all deltoid groups and traps)

You might just need to strengthen your core. That's your lower back and stomach muscles. Give it a try.
Upright rowing will do between your shoulder blades. It will take time and discipline though to get results.

When lifting weights, !please! remember to use proper form. You'll regret it later if you don't.
