Exception error 0x0000005 when browsing to install

For some reason lately this has started happening, I install most programs to my D: drive, so when installing I try to point the program there and I get Exception code (0x0000005) so I have to copy and paste the path into the install directory, also I just noticed it happens when I open Explorer and try to access a folder on one of the drives, if I open "My Computer" I can browse with no problem, it just happens when I open explorer.

Any ideas what's up, I tried the MS knowledge base with no luck

OH, I'm using WinXP pro.
Thanx

did you install you os to c then all your programs to d to start? are they the disks the same format? for some reason your installer is trying to grab memory that is reserved for the os.. so mabey it either needs this mem, can access it, and can't find it (cause it's on another drive). So if you didn't start off doing this, then I'm not sure what to tell you.. otherwise, I would try updating windows and or reparing the intall using the winxp tools that they give you... good luck

YUP, I installed the OS to C:, then I install most of my games to and programs to a different partition, and yes they are both Fat32 partitions.

Why would it be trying to grab this memory?, I have 512 megs.

Wierd thing is it's been ok for about 4 months and I don't know what happened to mess it up

I was afraid I might have to use the Repair thing.

When installing programs or games, they install to C: fine, but not to D:, if I copy and paste the path it works, just when I browse to the folder I want to install to.
